Solar Energy;
a limitless energy resource made freely available
to all of us through Solar Technology
At last 100% solar pumped solar hot water heating for washing and bathing.
The shallow water of a lake is usually warmer than the deep water. That's
because the sunlight can heat the lake bottom in the shallow areas, which in
turn, heats the water. It's nature's way of solar water heating. The sun can be
used in basically the same way to heat water used in buildings.
Solar Radiation is simple to capture. Every year
between 1000 and 1500 kWh per square meter of surface is freely
available. As long as there is light there is free energy available, even on
overcast days. The Solartwin solar hot water heating system we use, captures
this energy and turns it into a usable form.
Solartwin is a reliable, quickly fitted and affordable solar water heating
system. It is a
technically elegant, double award winning new technology. Invented at Napier University, Edinburgh, Solartwin
won a DTI “Smart Award” for its innovative freeze-tolerant technology. In
2003 it won again - a “Smart Achievement Award” - for commercial success.
How does it work?

Solartwin's solar collector (also referred to as a solar
thermal flat plate collector) is a slim, double glazed, highly insulated box. It
normally fits on your roof, wall or the ground. It traps heat and daylight
energy from the sun. As a result, it gets hot inside. Cold water from the bottom
of you cylinder travels through flexible water channels inside the solar
collector and it heats up. The solar powered pump then delivers this hot
water, through a pipe, back to your hot water storage cylinder. When it is time
for your conventional heating system to click in it will sense that the water in
the cylinder is already at the temperature that you have set, so your boiler
will not fire up. When you turn on your hot taps it will be solar heated water
that comes out.
